Heartworm preventives are safe, relatively inexpensive and easy to give, but if a dog becomes infected, heartworm treatment can be costly and difficult, requiring multiple veterinary visits and months of exercise restriction.

The American Heartworm Society recommends year-round heartworm prevention; as a bonus it also prevents common intestinal parasites! Make sure your dog is receiving adequate prevention.

National Respect Your Cat Day! What is this cat's National Respect Your Cat Day! What is this cat's body language saying about how he feels?

Head is forward, ears are erected to the front, eyes are open with pupils normal/slightly dilated, whiskers in a normal/forward position, and the tail is straight up with a relaxed curl at the tip.
Cats will often use this body language when giving a friendly greeting or when confidently investigating something new. Mushroom looks like he would love a good head scratch!
